Labiaplasty in Greenville, SC

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce the size and/or length of the labia minora or labia majora (the inner or outer vaginal lips) for aesthetic or functional reasons.

After childbirth, many women experience vaginal laxity; with menopause, vaginal dryness and low libido can occur. These issues can bring about not only physical discomfort but also low self-esteem.

At Advanced Cosmetic Surgery, we offer two options for vaginal rejuvenation, each focusing on different goals. A new radio frequency technology called Votiva addresses specific concerns in and around the vagina, while labiaplasty surgery reduces the size of the labia minora, the vagina’s inner lips. If you’re in the Greenville, Spartanburg and Anderson area, SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION with us for more information.

Vaginal rejuvenation refers to a set of procedures designed to tighten and modify the vaginal area with the goal of improving both the aesthetic appearance and function.

At Advanced Cosmetic Surgery, we use the Votiva platform from InMode MD, the creators of Morpheus8, FaceTite and many other industry-leading technologies.

Vaginal rejuvenation with Votiva is a nonsurgical treatment that uses radio frequency energy to improve blood flow, lubrication and sensation in the vagina, as well as the vulva’s appearance. It is administered both internally and externally using special handheld devices.

These devices emit radio frequency waves to gently heat the uppermost layers of tissue, which promotes collagen production to tighten and firm the vaginal walls and labial area. This heat also increases blood flow to improve vaginal lubrication and helps restore strength to the pelvic floor.

Ideal Candidates for Vaginal Rejuvenation

Ideal candidates for vaginal rejuvenation are women who are experiencing changes as a result of childbirth or menopause. These symptoms include:

  • Laxity and wrinkled appearance of the labia and vulva
  • Loosened vaginal canal after childbirth
  • Pain due to labial atrophy
  • Reduced sensation during intercourse
  • Urinary stress incontinence
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Weakened pelvic floor
  • Weakened vaginal muscles

Additionally, you should be in good health, not pregnant and not experiencing a yeast infection, urinary tract infection or sexually transmitted infection to receive treatment.

What is Votiva?

Votiva is a nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation treatment involving two devices, FormaV and FractoraV. For optimal results, we usually use both with our patients. Votiva treatments last 15–30 minutes, require no downtime and are not painful, creating only a sensation of warmth.

For most women, we recommend three sessions scheduled 4–6 weeks apart. Then, annual or semiannual maintenance sessions will maintain results. The exact number and scheduling of your sessions will depend on your goals and how your body responds to treatment.

FormaV

FormaV is an innovative handheld device resembling an internal ultrasound wand. It delivers radio frequency energy both internally and externally. The gentle heat triggers thermal remodeling of the delicate tissues of the vagina and vulva, encouraging them to firm and strengthen over time. Automatic sensors on the device ensure that a proper, safe temperature is maintained during treatment.

FormaV treats vaginal laxity, urinary incontinence, atrophy and the effects of aging in the vulvovaginal area. It also tightens the labia majora and minora. Most women start to see significant results after their third treatment, and the effects continue to develop in the weeks and months after the session.

FractoraV

FractoraV is used externally to tighten the labia majora. This device administers fractional radio frequency energy through a handheld device tipped with tiny pins. The heat generated creates a small thermal injury in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

FractoraV is suitable for women experiencing skin laxity around the vulva. As with FormaV, results appear progressively and will continue to develop in the weeks after each treatment.

Wonderful Surgeon and Person! - I had consultations with several surgeons before going to Dr. Felice and I knew right away that I wanted him to do my labiaplasty. The whole experience, from the initial consultation to surgery and recovery, was great. I opted for local anesthesia and I believe my exact words after surgery were “that was so fun!” Dr. Felice made an otherwise unpleasant experience fun and so comfortable! He’s an extremely talented surgeon and a wonderful person. I would not hesitate to have any procedure done by him.

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the labia minora. Ideal candidates are women with large labia that cause discomfort in their day-to-day activities or who are unhappy with the size and shape of their labia.

There are two methods of performing a labiaplasty: trim or wedge. The one you choose depends entirely on your aesthetic goals.

A trim procedure involves reducing the outermost tissue of the labia minora so that it does not droop below the labia majora. That tissue is removed, and the new edges are sutured closed with dissolving stitches.

Alternatively, a wedge-shaped section of tissue may be removed and the resulting incision sutured. This technique maintains the existing border of the labia for a more natural-looking result.

What causes vaginal changes?

As women age, estrogen levels in the body gradually decrease then drop off rapidly at menopause. Low estrogen levels result in decreased vaginal lubrication and thinning of the vaginal walls. Levels of collagen and elastin (the proteins that make skin firm and taut) also diminish. Lack of these proteins causes skin laxity everywhere on the body, including the vulva.

What is recovery like after a Votiva session?

Votiva involves no downtime – you can return immediately to work and most activities. However, for 48–72 hours after each session, we recommend:

  • Abstaining from sexual intercourse
  • Not swimming or taking hot baths
  • Wearing cotton underwear
  • Following all other care instructions we provide
When is the right time for Votiva?

Women can experience vaginal changes at any age, so there is no single ideal time to receive Votiva treatments. However, most of our patients have either already had children or completed menopause before beginning treatment. We do recommend scheduling your appointment right after your menstrual period ends, if you are still menstruating.

Can Votiva treatments replace a labiaplasty?

For some women, Votiva treatments are an excellent nonsurgical alternative to a labiaplasty. This is especially true if you’re experiencing a mild laxity in the labia minora. After several treatments, the labia will appear firmer and smaller.

What is recovery like after a labiaplasty?

In the days immediately after surgery, you’ll likely experience swelling and itching as part of the healing process. These symptoms can be alleviated with cool compresses. If you continue to experience itchiness after 1 week, consult your surgeon to rule out infection.

To speed up the healing process, it’s important to minimize physical activity. You may resume exercise 2–4 weeks after surgery and have sexual intercourse 6–8 weeks afterward, but make sure you’re cleared with your doctor before both.

Vaginal rejuvenation treatments can enhance your sex life, counteract signs of aging and reduce day-to-day discomfort. If you’re in the Greenville area, discover how we can help by scheduling a PRIVATE APPOINTMENT with a member of our team. We’ll have an in-depth conversation to discuss your needs and determine if Votiva, labiaplasty, or even a combination of both is best for you.
