Breast Augmentation at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery
Endoscopic breast augmentation is performed with the assistance of a camera, which eliminates the need for a large incision that results in a large scar. During this operation, the surgeon creates a tiny incision in the armpit called an axillary incision.
Using the endoscope, they will create space for the implant either behind or in front of the chest’s outermost muscle, the pectoral muscle. Next, they will insert the implant and center it behind the nipple. If the implant is saline, it must be filled with a sterile solution after insertion. Lastly, the surgeon will close the incision with stitches.
Implants we use
We offer saline and silicone implants from Allergan, Mentor and Sientra. Silicone implants are available in different gel viscosities with either smooth or textured surfaces, according to your preferences. Both round and anatomical models are available, although we recommend the latter primarily for reconstructive procedures.
Silicone vs. saline implants
There are two main types of breast implants, both with a silicone outer shell. Silicone implants are filled with a silicone gel; saline implants with a sterile salt water solution.
Many women prefer silicone implants as they look and feel more natural and are less likely to rupture. However, they are more expensive than saline options. Additionally, rupture of a silicone implant can cause complications. Saline implants may feel harder and are more likely to ripple, but in case of rupture, most of the solution will be safely absorbed by the body. Both silicone and saline options are safe.
Ultimately, the decision to CHOOSE SILICONE OR SALINE, smooth or textured and round or anatomical implants depends on your goals and personal preferences.
What to Expect During Your Breast Augmentation Surgery
Breast augmentation is considered major surgery and therefore involves a fair amount of preparation. Before your appointment, you may need to have bloodwork done to ensure all your levels are normal. For the 2 weeks preceding your surgery, avoid:
- Alcohol
- Nicotine
- Aspirin and ibuprofen
- Herbal supplements
You’ll also need to fast the night before surgery and follow all the instructions from your surgeon and his staff.
During surgery, you’ll be fully anesthetized. The procedure itself usually takes about usually takes 45 to 60 minutes, followed by a brief monitoring period. You may wish to have other operations at the same time. In either case, you’ll need to arrange for someone to drive you home once you’re cleared to leave.
For the first 2–4 days post surgery, you’ll need to rest to ENSURE A SMOOTH RECOVERY. Prepare for some pain, soreness and tightness, especially at the incision site, and take pain medication as necessary.
After about 6 days, you’ll be able to resume most of your day-to-day activities, although you should not drive for 1 week. Avoid all forms of exercise until you are cleared by your surgeon – usually about 4 weeks after the procedure. During this period, you should perform regular self-massages and take any medications prescribed by your doctor.
Although your breast size will immediately be larger post surgery, the final results appear after approximately 3 months; this is how long it takes for the implants to settle, scar tissue to stop forming and the swelling to go down.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my nipple sensation be affected?
Most women who undergo breast enhancement surgery experience temporary numbness or limited sensation in their nipples. However, this side effect typically lasts only a few months.
Is liposuction safe?
Both SALINE AND SILICONE BREAST IMPLANTS are considered safe, although any elective surgery carries a certain amount of risk. Additionally, the transaxillary (armpit) method we use is considered safer than a transumbilical (belly button) incision and may heal more quickly than the periareolar (around the nipple) method.
Will breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer?
Current research suggests that textured breast implants may be associated with a very low, but increased risk of anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), an uncommon immune system cancer. This heightened risk has not been linked to smooth breast implants.
Am I too old for this surgery?
We perform breast enhancements on women of all ages from their early 20s onward. While there’s no upper age limit for the procedure, for our more mature patients, the augmentation is usually paired with a mastopexy. At your consultation, we’ll evaluate your situation and find a solution that fits your needs.
Will my breast implants prevent me from breastfeeding?
If the surgery is performed endoscopically, no! In the past, breast enhancement surgery was achieved through a periareolar incision which prevented some women from being able to breastfeed afterward.
