CoolSculpting at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery
CoolSculpting features a cooling process that was developed by Harvard scientists. This patented technology targets and freezes fat cells – which are more sensitive to cold temperatures than other cell types. In this method, known as cryolipolysis, the fat cells then die and are naturally expelled from the body, leaving you with a slender new look.
The CoolSculpting apparatus consists of applicators controlled by a precise temperature monitoring system. Since its introduction over a decade ago, CoolSculpting has helped over 4 million people finally achieve the silhouette they’ve dreamed of.

What Can You Treat with CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is performed on those areas of the body where subcutaneous fat typically resides such as:
- Arms
- Back fat
- Bra bulge
- Chin area
- Flanks (love handles)
- Inner, outer and upper thighs
- Upper and lower abdomen
What to Expect During Your CoolSculpting Treatment
To start your CoolSculpting session, one of our licensed estheticians will apply a gel pad to the area being treated to protect your skin from the freezing effects of the technology. Next, she will place the applicator over the targeted area. The applicator vacuum seals over your skin, creating a sucking or pulling sensation.
The applicator connects to a system that safely lowers the temperature of fat cells beneath your skin until they freeze. The length of treatment depends on the area being targeted but is typically around 30 minutes.
In the meantime, you can take a nap, catch up on work or simply relax. Most of our patients find CoolSculpting perfectly comfortable, experiencing only sensations of cold and pressure.
Once the fat cells have reached the desired temperature, the esthetician removes the applicator and immediately uses a special vibrating tool and her hands to vigorously massage the treated area. This process breaks up any frozen tissue and provides an even, final result.
Although some people find the massage uncomfortable, others liken it to a tickling sensation. If you’re treating more than one area—for instance, treating both legs—she’ll then move on and repeat the entire process.
CoolSculpting has no downtime, but you should avoid strenuous activity for the rest of the day. If you experience redness, swelling, bruising, cramping or skin sensitivity over the next few days, you are advised to take ibuprofen or apply a warm compress to the area.
Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Reviews
38 Years Old. 2 Kids - Greenville SC - I decided to get cool sculpting on inner thighs. I am 38 years old and have 2 kids. Approximately 5'4 and 117 lbs. Working out and being active did not seem to target this area. I have only had one treatment and I definitely could tell a positive change and fat reduction after just the one treatment! The procedure was very tolerable and I had very minimal pain during and after the procedure. Immediately after the procedure they massage the area for 2 minutes. I had minimal bruising and soreness a few days after treatment. The area did itch for a week or two after treatment but wasn't uncomfortable. Would recommend this treatment in this area!
30 Years Old, CoolSculpting, Great Experience - Greenville, SC - Dr. McFadden and his staff were very kind, knowledgeable, and absolutely wonderful. I already have a slender build but have some stubborn areas I can't seem to get rid of with diet or exercise. I had treatment on my abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, and couldn't be happier. Treatment performed by Ashley, who was extremely professional and I could tell she knows what she's doing. Definitely the results I was looking for. Thank you Dr. McFadden!
Ashley did coolsculpting on my arms. She is such a sweetheart and goes out of her way to make you comfortable. She addresses any and every concern. I also want to put in a good review for Jo. I had a rash in-between my breasts. I showed it to Ashley. She immediately got Jo to look at it. Jo advised a cream. The cream was ineffective so I called the office. She called in a prescription and that was amazing. Worked right off. I so appreciate their help. I would have had to suffer with the horrible itching until I was able to get into my regular doctor. So by both of these nice ladies going over and above their normal duties and taking the extra time and care for me I was able to be healed so quickly. I just wanted to make sure they are recognized for their efforts! Also the cool sculpting was pain free and so far in 6 weeks I've already lost a half inch on each arm. Yay!
Tummy Tuck with Lipo and Muscle Plication - After I had my third child, I got in the best shape of my life. My core was my main focus and I wanted to be really strong there. After several years of training, I tried one round of Coolsculpting with great results. However, I ultimately wanted a different shape altogether. I carried this cuff of skin with a small amount of fat below it and I found myself always tucking it into clothes. Finally, 7 years after having my third child, I took the plunge and booked a consult at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery with Dr. Felice coming highly recommended due to his "perfectionist" style in the OR (which is what we all want and need!). He was down to earth while being clinically strong in his presentation. He asked what my expectations were. He gave gave me a realistic idea of the harder journey of recovery a tummy tuck involves. By the end of the consult, my little list of questions was answered. I was given a price quote immediately and schedule surgery at the end of the consult. My surgery was 4 weeks later and took around 4 hours. Week One was ROUGH, but not due to pain. Psychologically, I wasn't used to being chair-bound. I produced very little fluid and had my drains out after week one. Week Two was better, as was each successive week that followed. Week Three, the small amount of normal fluid that was around the Surgical site really began to dissipate, and I can really start to see the actual results of my tummy tuck. Simply put, they were amazing. By week Four, I could not believe my new body. That week, I also noticed how good my belly button was looking. I also remember having the thought that I actually felt like my old self again. I am now seven weeks postop, and apart from just a little bit of numbness, I feel back to my old self 100%. My incision is smooth and looks phenomenal. My drain sites are slowly filling in and look less dimpled. At my four week postop, I was cleared to exercise and submerged in water normally. There are a few things that I feel like being consistent with made a dramatic difference. I wear my garment around the clock. The only time it is off is in the shower. While it sometimes gets very annoying, it also provides a lot of comfort, and I like to get back into it as quickly as possible once it's off. I also stayed on my meds like clockwork. I weaned off of all pain meds by the end of the first week. I made sure to use stool softeners and MiraLAX. I'm very rarely regular, but I did not have a bowel movement until day five after my surgery. Because of the MiraLAX and stool softeners, it was very manageable. I made sure to have a powerlifting recliner to sit and sleep in initially, and that was a game changer. They are very affordable on Amazon. I also had a walker that I kept nearby and used a toilet seat lift. I made sure to shower every single day and do the exact protocol the doctor had suggested. Besides the supplements at the doctors office had given me to heal properly and it reduce bruising, I also purchased a lymphatic drainage supplement that I believe worked wonders for my body. I actually still take it now. I'm so thankful that I chose Dr. Felice for this surgery. He crossed every T and dotted every I. His care and clinical expertise was impressive and Impactful!

Who are the Best Candidates for CoolSculpting?
It is important to understand that CoolSculpting isn’t a weight loss solution, but a sculpting procedure for people who already have a healthy lifestyle and are looking to fine-tune their figures.
With this in mind, CoolSculpting is most effective for men and women who are at or close to their ideal weight, but have stubborn areas of fat that aren’t responding to diet or exercise. Where these areas are located on your body is a matter of genetics and the way your body naturally stores fat. At your consultation, we’ll discuss whether CoolSculpting is right for you!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is CoolSculpting permanent?
Technically, the results of CoolSculpting are permanent – once a fat cell is gone, it’s gone! Unfortunately, if you gain weight, fat cells surrounding the CoolSculpted area will likely migrate to the treated area and negate the results. However, It’s helpful to know that a CoolSculpting treatment won’t result in any unevenness.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
The experience varies from individual to individual, but very few people say that CoolSculpting hurts. Most patients report sensations of pulling, pressure and coldness during treatment. While some describe the post-treatment massage as uncomfortable, others don’t mind it.
What happens to the frozen fat cells?
The destroyed cells are metabolized by the lymph system and naturally eliminated; the fat will not be reabsorbed elsewhere in your body.
Will I need more than one session?
Most people only require 1 treatment; however, if you want to address more areas of the body than can be covered in a few hours, you’ll need to schedule additional sessions.
What’s the difference between CoolSculpting and traditional liposuction?
CoolSculpting achieves the same fundamental outcome as liposuction – it permanently reduces the number of fat cells in the treated area. However, liposuction is a surgical procedure that requires full anesthesia and significant downtime. CoolSculpting requires neither!
Alternative Services
If for any reason CoolSculpting isn’t right for you, we offer alternative services, both surgical and nonsurgical, to help you achieve the body you want. These solutions may be more effective for people who are overweight or have recently lost a significant amount of weight.
