SkinPen Microneedling in Greenville, SC

SkinPen is a non-surgical skin rejuvenation procedure that helps improve the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and other skin imperfections. The FDA-approved microneedling device creates hundreds of micro-injuries, vertical microscopic channels in the dermis. These microchannels trigger the production of collagen and elastin, key proteins for skin health and firmness, while increasing blood flow and kickstarting your immune system. The result is rejuvenation from the inside out–all with little downtime.

The treatment also includes the Skinfuse line of skincare products, specifically formulated for use after the SkinPen procedure to optimize results.

SkinPen microneedling improves:

  • Acne scars
  • Age spots, melasma and other forms of hyperpigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Mild skin laxity
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin texture

The SkinPen microneedling procedure assists in improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars.

SkinPen microneedling safely treats multiple signs of aging and skin conditions with minimal side effects or downtime. Dr. McFadden is absolutely outstanding! Over the past 10 years, he has performed numerous cosmetic procedures on me, and he has never failed to impress. Previously, I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair done by another surgeon at a different practice, but I was dissatisfied with the results, even after a revision. In November, I chose to have the same procedure performed by Dr. McFadden, and the results have been nothing short of remarkable! The photo to the left shows my abdomen one year after the initial tummy tuck, during which I experienced distension and hardness from day one post-op, with no changes over time. I was continually told by the first surgeon that it was merely swelling and fascia issues. The photo to the right, taken just 10 weeks after my tummy tuck with Dr. McFadden, highlights a significant improvement. As you can see, I am already quite flat despite some lingering swelling. I am eagerly anticipating what my final results will look like in a year! Dr. McFadden has truly become my hero through this procedure. I cannot recommend him highly enough for exceptional results. After all, who undergoes a tummy tuck without the goal of achieving a flat abdomen? That’s the entire purpose!

At your session, your provider will first cleanse the treatment area and apply a topical numbing cream. Once the numbing cream takes effect, your provider will pass the pen-shaped microneedling device all over the treatment area in up-and-down, side-to-side and circular motions, passing over each section multiple times. Specific areas of concern, such as acne scars or hyperpigmentation, will be passed over additional times.

After 24 hours, you’ll be able to return to all your usual routines, including washing your face and wearing makeup. Complete recovery takes 3–5 days. To care for your skin post-treatment and optimize results, you’ll be given Skinfuse products to use at home for the next week. During this time, minimize sun exposure and wear sunscreen to reduce the likelihood of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

The full results will be visible after 4–6 weeks, once your skin has had the time to create new collagen and elastin as part of the body’s natural wound-healing process. Your skin will appear brighter, smoother and firmer, with a reduced appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation and signs of aging.

Is SkinPen safe?

SkinPen is a highly safe procedure. The device employs sterile, single-use cartridges, minimizing your risk of cross-contamination, infection and scarring.

Does the treatment hurt?

Thanks to the topical anesthetic applied before treatment, getting SkinPen isn’t painful at all. For 3–4 days after treatment, you may experience a sensation similar to a sunburn.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients undergo an initial series of three SkinPen sessions. Afterward, you may schedule appointments as often as every 6–8 weeks to continue improving and maintain your results. Your provider will help you create a treatment plan based on the skin conditions or concerns you’re addressing.

Is SkinPen appropriate for all skin tones?

Yes. While some skin remodeling procedures are known to cause hyperpigmentation in dark skin tones, SkinPen is safe for all skin types, including people with dark or tanned skin who are particularly susceptible to hyperpigmentation.

The device penetrates but doesn’t significantly damage the epidermis; thus, melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) aren’t triggered to increase pigment production.

The cost of a SkinPen session varies depending on the size and number of treatment areas. Please MAKE AN APPOINTMENT for more information.

We offer several other services that address fine lines, acne scars and hyperpigmentation with minimal downtime. They include:

ACNE SCAR REMOVAL: a laser-based treatment that injures the skin to stimulate collagen production, causing acne scars to fade away as damaged tissue is replaced
CHEMICAL PEEL: the application of chemicals that exfoliate the uppermost layers of skin, gradually eroding imperfections such as dark spots, fine lines and acne scars
LASER DARK SPOT REMOVAL: a laser therapy that breaks up clusters of melanin in the skin, lightening hyperpigmentation
