What Is XEOMIN?
Xeomin is an injectable cosmetic treatment made from botulinum toxin type A. It’s made from the same active ingredient as the more familiar brand name Botox Cosmetic.
Injectable botulinum toxin treatments block signals from the nerves that cause certain facial muscles to move. When injected into facial treatment areas, such as the forehead, Xeomin SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY paralyzes and relaxes the muscles that cause glabellar lines and other dynamic wrinkles. This results in a smoother appearance.
Xeomin vs. Botox
Xeomin’s primary advantage over Botox is that surface proteins are removed from it during the manufacturing process, earning it the nickname of “naked Botox.” This lack of surface proteins reduces the RISK OF IMMUNOGENICITY, i.e., developing a tolerance, which leads to THERAPY FAILURE.
If Botox injections are no longer working for you, or if you anticipate undergoing regular treatments for a long period, Xeomin may be the right choice for you.
Benefits
Through temporary muscle paralysis, Xeomin injections:
- Soften existing wrinkles and fine lines
- Prevent new wrinkles from forming
- Create a smoother and younger appearance
- Don’t require any downtime for recovery; you can return to your everyday routine immediately after your appointment
What Can You Treat With Xeomin Injections?
Xeomin is FDA approved for treating crow’s feet and frown lines. However, botulinum toxin injections can actually treat a wide range of concerns, and can be used as both corrective and preventive measures. Xeomin is FDA-approved to treat:
- Crow’s feet: Small, dynamic wrinkles around the eyes caused by squinting and smiling.
- Forehead (glabellar) lines: Lines that form in the center of the forehead between the eyebrows.
Off-label uses for botulinum toxin injections such as Xeomin include:
- Bruxism: Teeth grinding and clenching that leads to headaches, damaged teeth and jaw problems
- Excess sweat production (hyperhidrosis): Treatment areas include the palms, forehead, and armpits
- Muscle spasms: Used to relax lazy or crossed eyes (strabismus), neck spasms, twitching eyelids, and other similar spasms
- Migraine headaches: Relieves tension and reduces the frequency of migraines.
- Neck lines: Vertical lines and wrinkles, sometimes called turkey neck
- Nose and mouth lines: Dynamic wrinkles and creases commonly caused by frowning, laughing, and smiling

What To Expect From Your Xeomin Treatment
It’s best to cleanse your skin before you arrive for your Xeomin treatment, and don’t use any skin care products on your face. However, your practitioner may clean your skin for you. Once you’ve arrived:
- You’ll be led to a treatment room, where your practitioner will disinfect your skin. They may also apply a topical numbing agent if requested.
- Your practitioner will prepare vials of Xeomin, based on the number of units you need for treatment.
- You’ll recline comfortably on the treatment table while you receive your Xeomin injections.
Xeomin treatments only take 10–15 minutes to complete. After that, you can return to your regular activities.
Recovery and Aftercare
Xeomin treatments require no downtime for recovery. You can go about your daily routine right after your appointment. Avoid touching or rubbing the treatment areas immediately after your appointment, as you could push the botulinum toxin into an unintended part of the face.
Cost of Xeomin in Greenville, South Carolina
In South Carolina, Xeomin treatments range from $325–$725, on average. The recommended maximum treatment dosage is 20 units per session over five potential treatment areas. Xeomin recommends using no more than four units per treatment area.
Treatment costs vary based on how many units you need to achieve your desired result, as well as the state, city, and practice where you receive Xeomin. If you select a provider in a larger city, a Xeomin treatment will cost more, because the per-unit price will be higher.
The average COST OF XEOMIN NATIONWIDE, according to the American Society of Cosmetic Surgeons, is $466.
Advanced Cosmetic Surgery Reviews
I would recommend Dr. Felice to anyone! I’m one year post-op and can say my results are perfect. Throughout the whole process he has taken the time to truly listen to what I want and made me feel comfortable. He fully explains everything about surgery and recovery. He truly cares about his patients and wants them to be happy with their results. He and his team take the time to listen and have discussions without making you feel rushed or judged. The entire team at advanced cosmetic surgery is friendly and responsive. The physician assistant I saw post op was also amazing! I can say for the first time in my life I feel comfortable trying on clothes and feel more confident in myself and it’s because of the wonderful surgical results Dr. Felice created for me.
Excellent experience!! Fast, personable and love the results. Thank you !!
Dr Felice came highly recommended by my friend and he did not disappoint! He is wonderful and made me feel gorgeous even without treatment!
I have been seeing Dr. Felice for quite some time for my Botox injections. His attention to detail, and the way he achieves such natural looking results made me certain he was the surgeon for me when I got ready to have Upper Blepharoplasty. It was SO EASY! Under local, right in the office, and in an hour! I felt absolutely zero discomfort during the procedure and did not require pain medicine after. This was such a piece of cake! I’m 6 weeks out now, and my results are stunning! Truly! I am amazed and so pleased every time I look in the mirror. I feel so pretty!! ALSO, I can’t believe how much better I can see! Imagine everywhere you look is a 5x7 photo when everyone is seeing the 8x10 full frame! And now I do too! There’s so much blue sky up there! It’s crazy to me that I have thought for so many years that my eyelashes grew downward. Nope! It was actually my excess skin on the lid sitting down on them that pushed them downward. If you are considering this procedure, just do it! I am SO glad I did!
I had a full-face laser resurfacing done by Abby. I cannot speak highly enough of her professionalism, her care, and her kindness. My experience at Advanced Cosmetic Surgery has been excellent, and I have found all the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly.

Ideal Candidates for Xeomin
Day-to-day life impacts our appearance throughout the years as we age. Laughing, smiling, frowning, or holding tension in the face can cause lines and wrinkles to appear over time. This can significantly impact our appearance, making us look unhappy, exhausted or older than we really are.
Xeomin treatments are safe for all skin types, including DARKER SKIN TONES, and address:
- Bruxism (teeth clenching and grinding)
- Crow’s feet
- Excess sweat production
- Forehead (glabellar) lines
- Muscle spasms
- Migraine headaches
- Neck lines
- Nose and mouth lines
You shouldn’t get Xeomin treatments if you have an allergy to botulinum toxin. All injection sites should be free of swelling, infection, and any weakness in the muscles prior to treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Xeomin safe?
Because botulinum toxin injections have been used for over 30 years, they’re considered to be incredibly safe.
Side effects of Xeomin can include:
- Bruising at the injection site
- Blurred vision
- Eyelid or facial drooping (temporary)
- Facial muscle weakness
- Headache
- Nausea
- Pain at the injection site
Xeomin may cause allergic reactions, whose general symptoms include:
- Asthma symptoms
- Dizziness
- Hives
- Itching
- Lightheadedness
- Rash
- Swelling
- Wheezing
In rare cases, the botulinum toxin can migrate to another area in the body, causing muscle weakness and, occasionally, trouble breathing, speaking, or swallowing. Contact your doctor immediately if you experience these side effects.
Do Xeomin treatments hurt?
Any pain associated with Xeomin injections is minimal. Each injection feels like a small pinch, and we use tiny needles to administer the toxin. It’s possible to receive up to 10 injections per side of the face, depending on the number of treatment areas.
If you wish, we’ll give you an ice pack for comfort at the end of your session.
What preparations should I take before my Xeomin session?
For the week prior to your appointment, discontinue taking blood thinners, muscle relaxants and NSAIDs according to your healthcare provider’s instructions. All these medications can cause excessive bleeding. Avoid cigarettes and alcohol for 48 hours before your session.
When should I start getting Xeomin injections?
Adults can begin getting Xeomin at any time. Generally, our clients prefer to begin treatment when they begin to see visible wrinkles–usually, in their 30s and 40s. However, some clients in their 20s receive Xeomin treatments to prevent wrinkles from forming.
How long does Xeomin last?
Xeomin lasts approximately 3 months, although it can last for up to 4 in some clients. You’ll be able to see wrinkling in the treatment areas again as the injection wears off. You can return for a follow-up visit every 3 months, at minimum.
